What Your Learners Will Study

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology to effectively communicate with healthcare professionals and understand laboratory test requisitions.
  • The ability to interpret and report laboratory test results accurately, recognizing normal and abnormal findings and understanding the significance of quality control measures.
  • Proficiency in specimen collection techniques, including venipuncture, capillary puncture, and specimen processing for various laboratory tests.
  • Understanding and application of principles of medical laboratory science, including basic laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and quality assurance measures.

Medical Laboratory Assistant Training Curriculum

Penn Foster’s programs are self-paced, allowing your workers and trainees to fit education into their lives and not the other way around. The Medical Laboratory Assistant Program includes a required 120-hour externship for your learners to gain hands-on, real-world experience.

 

Through these online classes, your learners can prepare to sit for the American Medical Technologist’s Certified Medical Lab Assistant (CMLA) certification exam as well as the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) exam from NHA (National Healthcareer Association).
